Learn how to reverse the sign of an account in the Sage Intelligence Online Report Designer

In Sage Intelligence, account balances are typically returned in their “natural format” from your Sage accounting or business management solution.  In other words, credit accounts (with a credit balance) are shown as negative values and debit accounts (with a debit balance) are shown as positives values.  However, in financial reporting, there are times when the natural format does not suit the format of your reports, so it’s necessary to reverse the sign.

As an example, in an Income Statement or Profit and Loss report, Sales is naturally a credit account, and so it will be seen as a negative amount when you design and run out a report.  This will also impact any other formulas in the layout that depend on it, like Gross Profit or Variance.  By using the Reverse Sign option in the Online Report Designer, you can switch the sign of an account, thereby displaying credit accounts as positive values and improving the overall form of your reports.

For this, you can do the following:

1. In the Online Report Designer, select the row you want to switch the sign of.

2. Then under the properties on the right, check the Reverse Sign checkbox and click Save.

3. Now when you run out your report, the value of the account will be switched from negative to positive, or vice versa.

And just like that, you would have learned to reverse the sign of an account in the Sage Intelligence Online Report Designer.
