Custom Number Format Command

Question:     How do I format cells to show dates as the day of the week?

Answer:        By using the Custom number format command

Why:            To display dates as the day of the week. (The text function can also be used to show dates as the day of the week)

 Applies To: Excel 2003, 2007, and 2010

  1. To show the day of the week for the dates in column E

2.         Select the data range E2:E19

3.            Right click on the selected area

4.            Select Format Cells

5.            Select /Enter as below

The result will be displayed as per the following screen shot
